Computer Advisory Notification

Urgent Notice Regarding Your Computer's Security - Please Read Thoroughly and Take Appropriate Action

Wow, it's been quite a month for computer security warnings! There are three new major worms spreading rapidly across the Internet this week and you're bound to be attacked by at least one of them soon. Please review the articles below and take the appropriate action to protect your system.

CAN20030820c - Sobig.F Worm Compromises Security

This dangerous e-mail attachment allows hackers to access your system, steal information, and setup spam mail relays. Know what to look for and what to do by reading the Computer Advisory Notification (CAN) located here.

CAN20030820b - Welchia Worm Spreading Across Internet

Another worm has been discovered which takes advantage of the same Microsoft DCOM RPC flaw as the Blaster worm. But in addition, this worm also exploits an older IIS 5.0 flaw known as WebDav on Windows NT/2000/XP computers. If you haven't patched your system yet, do it now! Read the details in the Computer Advisory Notification (CAN) located here.

CAN20030820a - Dumaru Worm E-mail Spreading

An e-mail worm is spreading across the Internet and infecting many Windows-based PCs with an attached file which users must open to activate. The message falsely appears to contain a file from Microsoft containing a patch for the Internet Explorer browser program. The fake "patch" doesn't come from Microsoft, even though the worm author would have you think it does. Read the Computer Advisory Notification (CAN) located here.

CAN20030812a - Blaster Worm Exploits DCOM RPC Flaw

Well, it made BIG headlines in every major news media last week and disrupted large networks and portions of the Internet, so don't say we didn't warn you!

If you STILL haven't patched your system yet, then stop what you are doing and give this matter some attention right now because there are already other viruses/worms in the wild which take advantage the same Windows NT/2000/XP/Server 2003 flaw. Read about this worm (it doesn't need e-mail to infect your computer!) by reading the Computer Advisory Notification (CAN) located here.
