There's a new worm in heavy distribution on the Internet that appears to be a fake patch from Microsoft for its Internet Explorer web browser (this same worm also sometimes appears as a qmail delivery failure notice attachment). Once your machine is infected, your anti-virus and/or firewall software will stop working and your computer will periodically give you false error messages, not to mention the hundreds (maybe thousands?) of worm-infected e-mails that your computer will start sending out. Protect yourself by updating your anti-virus software and reading the Computer Advisory Notification (CAN) located here.
This CAN has been updated to reflect the fact that sample code taking advantage of these flaws has been found on the Internet. It's only a matter of time before we see new worms on the Internet taking advantage of this. If you haven't done it yet, patch your system NOW!

These flaws are similar to the flaws which led to the rapid proliferation of the Blaster worm last month.
